lyrics

There was a tiny little girl
That I used to know.
Made my feet curl my eyes so bright.
Now the things that happen to a person day to day
Have brought her back into my life.

I used to take her to the movies maybe twice a week
Sneaking bottles inside her purse.
I used to take her to the party going up the street
Let my friends know what I was worth.

I used to pull her in the corner and I'd never have to warn her
Take all the love I know I deserved.
And she'd never seem confused
She'd just tear away my blues
and leave a glow where my sadness had lurked.

Now that girl is like a squirrel with a fluffy tail
Big eyes little paws you've seen em running
She ran up and down that tree
fast as anyone could see
Gathering nuts just like the winter's coming

Now my nose is like a hound and when I go sniffing 'round
You can be sure that I get what I am after
And that squirrel came to see
That when with one like me
You have to walk and talk a wee bit faster

She runs me ragged
And I'd like to think that I did the same
But as fate would have it
It took a couple years apart to appreciate this day.

There was a tiny little girl
That I used to know.
Made my feet curl my eyes so bright.
Now the things that happen to a person day to day
Have brought her back into my life.

Now that squirrel and me, we are happy as can be
Me and her, you know, we run the show.
And all my friends say I look taller everyday
Because that squirrel is there wherever I go.
